28) What are the preconditions of this musical project

What do I have to deal with to realize this project?

 My first exposure to Burmese music left me speechless. Ok I thought. 
And now?
My task was to create something in collaboration with the two musical cultures.
And I was overstrained. I think that explains best, when you listen to a short musical example.

Defined diatonic and pentatonic scales. 
It is possible to tune some notes into a needed note. For example you can tune the tone f to f# of course. If you would need f#as the #11 for example you could tune it in one of the three octaves. The rest of the tones can still be Cmaj. 
It is always a bit of brainwork to decide how exactly you need the instrument tuned, if it comes to the collaboration between the 12 semitones and the standard diatonic tuning. 
>In the compositions and arrangements the restrictions can be used to form concepts. 
I.e. conscious use of bitonality or even dissonances. 
Contrasting parts, mirroring the two musical traditions.
Arranging simple diatonic melodies with western harmonies.

9) Myanmar Meets Europe - How It All Began...

It began in 2010.  The two musicians Tim Isfort and Jan Klare were working at the project first.  Together with Xaver Augustin , the head of the Goethe Institut Yangon/Myanmar .  As far as I understand another very important role was played by Daphne Wolff . Who came to Burma first in 2004 to learn about Burmese music as an music-ethnologist. In 2010 she was working for the Goethe Institute Yangon, organized and created collaborations between Burmese musicians and European musicians. That is how Tim Isfort and Jan Klare first met Thaung Htike .  And that was also how Daphne and Thaung Htike met. Daphne is a very important linking role. She speaks Burmese, she knows the people and their music and she can translate during the process of rehearsing.  Wich is quite important, otherwise sometimes there is no understanding in words and alas no chance to work at musical details. 29) Sein Bo Din / Comp.: Hein Tint / Band Arrangement: Christoph Hillmann

Sein Bo Din Is a composition, Thaung Htike wrote. Sein Bo Din was his teacher. He wrote this piece in "Sein Bo Din Style" as he explained to me. In the style of his master. We play this piece in duo. And until that could happen there were several steps to take. We were introduced to Thaung Htikes music in 2014. Sein Bo Din: Christoph Hillmann was the drummer of the European Ensemble back then. He arranged Sein Bo Din, so we could play it together with the Hsaing Waing ensemble and the Jazz band. This is his arrangement:  Last year in October 2017 we started to play this composition also in our duo. And therefor we use Christop Hillmann´s arrangement.  Christoph has transcribed the drum figures to the piano more or less. Or he added figures that fit the melody and give some groove.  He wrote down call and response parts. He added some chords in a jazzidiom to accompany the melody (page 5).
